Porto Coral – Historic Rehabilitation in Porto
This project is the rehabilitation of a historic building in Porto that was once in ruins. The structure was consolidated and reinforced while preserving its original character, including the wooden beams, stone ornaments, and symbolic details connected to the city’s heritage. Every intervention was carefully planned to respect the building’s history while preparing it for a new life.
The façades were restored with a coral tone, the result of a chromatic study approved by the Portuguese Heritage Commission, and the exterior carpentries were finished in a deep night blue, bringing contrast and light. On the secondary street, a small inner courtyard was transformed with a hand-painted mural that celebrates the cultural ties between Portugal and Brazil, as well as the era of discoveries.
The building now houses three tourist apartments, each with two street fronts. Inside, we created a unique atmosphere for every unit, using distinct colors, textures, and materials to give each apartment its own identity. The result is a balance of heritage and contemporary design, where tradition and functionality coexist naturally.
